Our archive accepts three types of submissions, each with its own unique requirements. While the format varies, all posts must meet our standards for quality, clarity, and accuracy. Below are the specific guidelines for each type:
Definition: These posts consist of exact translations of historical documents or manuscripts.
Internal Links: Manuscripts should include internal links to the related image(s) hosted within our multimedia archive.
Format: Ensure that the translation is accurate and clearly presented, with appropriate annotations or explanations as necessary.
Definition: Historical recounts such as news articles, interviews, or other published materials.
Original Publication Date: Every publication submission must include the date of the original publication to provide historical context.
Sources: Proper attribution to the original source is required, including relevant citations in MLA format.
Definition: This is the broadest category, covering individual findings, analyses, or discussions that do not fall under Manuscripts or Publications.
Tone: Research posts can contain personal insights or opinions, as long as they are presented formally and backed by factual information provided in the post.
Citations: As with all submissions, MLA format is required for citing sources.
No Minimum or Maximum Word Count: We emphasize quality over quantity. There are no restrictions on word count, but every submission should be clear, concise, and well-researched.
MLA Format: All posts must follow MLA formatting for in-text citations and the Works Cited section at the end of the post. This ensures proper credit is given to any sources used.
Single Image Placement: Each post is allowed to have a single image as the cover of the post. You may also include links to additional images these will be included at the end of your post with the standard f.g.# format. To link to them to specific parts of your post just use f.g.# within the text body.
Multimedia Archive: Any images submitted will be processed internally and added to our multimedia archive. Once an image is in the archive, it is no longer exclusive to your post and may be used in other submissions. In turn if there is an image within the Multimedia Archive you may provide a link to it and use it in your post.
Image Rights: When submitting images, ensure you have the full rights to use them, whether through direct ownership, attribution, or Creative Commons licensing. Strict guidelines are followed to ensure compliance with copyright laws. You will need to include sources from which you found your image and The Librarians will take care of the rest.
Submission Timing: Images can be submitted at the time of your post or beforehand. Once processed, they will be available for use across multiple posts, ensuring a rich and varied visual archive.
By following these guidelines, your submission will meet the archive’s standards while contributing valuable content to the community. If you have any questions or need assistance during the submission process, please reach out to Librarian on Discord.
